Thomas C “Doc” Miller was the only person charged with a crime in the JonBenet Ramsey case who refused a plea bargain, went to trial, and was found not guilty after the jury deliberated for only 20 minutes. Charged with a felony, Commercial Bribery, for his part in finding a copy of the ransom note and identifying Patsy Ramsey as the author, the decision was a stinging rebuke of a criminal justice system that ignored the heinous murder of JonBenét Ramsey. The Globe tabloid magazine initially hired Miller to assist in locating the three page ransom note. Miller had also worked as a private investigator and handwriting expert before entering law. With his inside knowledge of the JonBenét Ramsey murder investigation, the author now presents the public an explanation why no one was ever tried and found guilty of JonBenét’s murder, and why no one will ever face charges. Miller retired from a criminal defense practice in 2018 and now operates a bed-and-breakfast with his wife, Judith Phillips, in Denver, Colorado.
